Seafood Ethics is part of an ongoing effort to properly and transparently characterize seafood mislabeling, using available evidence and statistical modeling.
01 DATABASE
First, we compile a global database of mislabeling studies.
02 EFFORT
Second, we document the effort for which products have been tested for mislabeling (# of studies and # of samples tested).
03 ESTIMATE
Third, we develop statistical models to estimate mislabeling rates.
04 SUBSTITUTES
Fourth, we document the substitute products involved in mislabeling.
Mislabeling necessarily involves two products:
The species that the product is purported to be based on a label.
The true identity of a mislabeled product.
